Checked on Oct 18, 2026 against official sources
Your first transport decision in Korea starts with your hotel’s location. A train works well for a station nearby. An airport bus can reduce transfers. A taxi takes you directly to an address.
You can make this decision without speaking Korean. Save your hotel name, Korean address, and nearest station before leaving the airport. Then compare the complete journey, including the final walk.
Timetable note: AREX changed its train times from October 23, 2026. Always check the official notices and the timetable for your travel date before relying on a first or last train.
1. Choose your transport
Train times below are to Seoul Station. They exclude immigration, baggage collection, waiting, and onward travel. Bus and taxi times depend on your destination and road conditions.
| Option | Travel time | Adult one-way fare | Good when |
|---|---|---|---|
| AREX Express | T1: 43 minutes; T2: 51 minutes | ₩13,000 | Seoul Station is convenient for your next step |
| AREX All-Stop | T1: 59 minutes; T2: 66 minutes; some trains take longer | Transport card: T1 ₩4,750; T2 ₩5,350 to Seoul Station | Keeping costs down or staying near Hongik Univ. or Gongdeok |
| Airport limousine bus | Check your exact stop; traffic affects arrival | Representative services: ₩17,000–18,000 | A listed stop is close to your hotel |
| Regular or deluxe taxi | Destination and traffic dependent | Metered; tolls and applicable surcharges extra | You want a direct ride |
| International Taxi | Destination and traffic dependent | Seoul zone fares: sedan ₩70,000–95,000; larger/deluxe vehicles ₩100,000–140,000 | You want foreign-language service and a published zone fare |

2. Find transport from your terminal
Check whether you have arrived at Terminal 1 (제1여객터미널) or Terminal 2 (제2여객터미널). Use the information for that terminal throughout your journey.
For trains, follow Airport Railroad (공항철도) signs toward the transport center on B1. Both terminals have Express customer information centers there.
For buses, look for Bus Tickets (버스 승차권). For taxis, follow Taxi (택시) signs to the designated rank. Keep your hotel address ready to show staff.
3. Take AREX Express to Seoul Station
The Express Train (직통열차) connects the airport terminals with Seoul Station (서울역). It does not stop at Hongik Univ. (홍대입구) or Gongdeok (공덕).
Step 1: Check the next departure and whether Seoul Station suits your hotel.
Step 2: Buy a separate Express ticket through AREX’s official booking service or at the airport Express customer center.
Step 3: Check the terminal, departure, carriage, and assigned seat. Use the Express entrance shown on your ticket and station signs.
Express has reserved seating. A Tmoney balance for ordinary public transport does not replace its separate ticket.
Express trains run from early morning until late evening. AREX changed its timetable from October 23, 2026, so check the first and last departures for your travel date on the official Express timetable before you land.
4. Take the cheaper AREX All-Stop train
The All-Stop Train (일반열차) serves intermediate stations, including Hongik Univ. and Gongdeok. If your accommodation is nearby, check whether this avoids an unnecessary trip through Seoul Station.
Step 1: Choose your actual destination station.
Step 2: Use a loaded transportation card or buy a single-use card from a station vending machine.
Step 3: Confirm the train’s destination before boarding, particularly late at night.
To Seoul Station, adult transportation-card fares are ₩4,750 from T1 and ₩5,350 from T2. A single-use card adds ₩100 to the fare plus a refundable ₩500 deposit. Your initial payment is therefore ₩5,350 or ₩5,950 respectively. Return the single-use card through the destination station’s refund process to recover the deposit. See the official fare table.
Allow roughly 59 minutes from T1 or 66 from T2; some services require another two to six minutes.
For first and last All-Stop services, use the official station timetable. Select your airport terminal and day, then confirm the terminus. Late at night, the last train leaving the airport may not run all the way to Seoul Station.
5. Find an airport bus near your hotel
Start with your hotel’s nearest official bus stop. 6015 is a route to check for Myeongdong; 6002 serves a corridor including Hapjeong, Sinchon, Jongno, Dongdaemun, and Cheongnyangni. Check the full operator route list.
For City Hall or Gwanghwamun, check 6701 on the K Airport Limousine website.
Step 1: Match your hotel to a named stop.
Step 2: Select the airport-to-Seoul direction and your terminal.
Step 3: Confirm the fare, next departure, and boarding platform before purchasing.
At T1, ticket counters are inside the arrivals floor beside exits 4 and 9, with additional counters outside. T2 counters are on the basement level. Staffed counters and kiosks sell tickets. Follow the boarding location printed on yours. Incheon Airport ticket information
Buy a ticket for your bus before boarding; don't assume a transport card is enough. The 6015 operator specifically requires a ticket at T2; K Limousine also instructs airport passengers to purchase reservation tickets.
The representative adult fares above are ₩17,000 for 6015 and ₩18,000 for K Limousine. Other routes may differ. Leave room for traffic and the walk from the stop.
6. Take a taxi directly to your address
Use the designated airport taxi rank. Show your saved Korean address and confirm the vehicle category before boarding. The airport taxi guide identifies official services and pickup areas.
Regular Taxi (일반택시) and Deluxe Taxi (모범택시) use metered fares. Seoul’s daytime starting rates are ₩4,800 for 1.6 kilometres and ₩7,000 for three kilometres respectively. These are starting charges, not airport-transfer prices.
International Taxi (인터내셔널택시) offers foreign-language service. Seoul publishes airport zone fares of ₩70,000–95,000 for sedans and ₩100,000–140,000 for larger or deluxe vehicles. Confirm the destination zone and whether tolls or other charges are included. Seoul’s official taxi guide
For Seoul regular taxis, nighttime surcharges are 20% from 22:00–23:00, 40% from 23:00–02:00, and 20% from 02:00–04:00. Seoul deluxe taxis also have a 20% nighttime surcharge from 22:00–04:00.
7. Get a transport card and English help
Ask an airport convenience store for Tmoney (티머니) if you plan to use public transport. Standard cards generally cost ₩3,000–5,000, with travel credit loaded separately. Availability varies by branch. VisitKorea transportation-card guide
For English travel information or interpretation, call 1330 in Korea, or +82-2-1330 from overseas. Select English; ordinary telephone charges may apply. VisitKorea also provides online calling and chat. Wi-Fi online calls have no call charge. Official 1330 support
Save money
Use All-Stop when it fits your route. A transport card saves ₩100 against an adult single-use AREX fare, although buying the card costs extra. Eligible public-transport transfers can also receive discounts.
Check K‑Tour Pass only if you will use its other benefits. VisitKorea lists a foreign-tourist AREX one-way coupon offering 50% off, capped at ₩6,000. The pass costs ₩15,000, and transport coupons expire December 31, 2026. Buying it solely for this airport ride does not recover the purchase cost. Check redemption conditions before paying.
